Outerwear carries visible construction, hardware and branding decisions. A useful brief connects the jacket design to the wider collection and makes every required label or package component explicit.

01

Define the silhouette

Share front, back and side references and identify the details that are essential to the design. Do not leave hood, collar, pocket or length decisions implicit.

  • Jacket length
  • Hood or collar
  • Pocket layout
  • Cuff and hem direction
02

Map colour and hardware

Specify shell, lining, zip and trim colours. Hardware appearance should be reviewed as part of the complete garment.

  • Shell and lining colour
  • Main and pocket zips
  • Pullers and snaps
  • Contrast trims
03

Prepare the private-label package

List every brand component required for the garment and its presentation. Supply final artwork and legal wording where applicable.

  • Main label
  • Size and care label
  • Hangtag
  • Bag and carton markings
04

Approve against the range

Compare the sample with polos, fleece or teamwear pieces in the same programme so colours and logo treatment remain consistent.

  • Cross-product colour check
  • Logo scale
  • Label consistency
  • Packing consistency
